my family and i spent 3 days in yangshuo recently (xmas weekend) and i cannot recommend jack's services highly enough. not only is jack friendly, intelligent and knowledgeable about yangshuo, his gentle personality and attentiveness ensured that our time in yangshuo was tailored exactly to our needs. one of the most important aspects of jack's services, in our opinion, is that he responds very quickly to e-mails and enquiries, so that, very soon after the initial enquiry, our family's holiday plans were formed. after giving jack a few details about our requirements, he suggested an itinerary which proved to be the perfect combination of activity and relaxation. at all times, jack was punctual, polite and professional, and using jack's services in yangshuo (our first time in china) led to one of the most enjoyable holiday experiences we have had. jack was consistently eager to ensure that we were happy and satisfied, and on several occasions our plans were altered and adapted at very short notice, making our time in yangshuo that much better. on a financial note, we found jack's prices to be very fair and in light of the service he provided, extremely good value. lastly, using jack's services enabled us to get "off the beaten track", visiting places that we would not have found using a guide book. if you are visiting yangshuo, do not hesitate to get in touch with jack and use his services as a guide. 

when my husband and i were planning our travels in china, we knew we "had" to see the splendor and history of beijing and xi'an, but we also knew we wanted an alternate and more personal view of a quieter beauty and observe the traditional customs and dress and architecture of some of the minority people. through trip advisor reviews, i found jack of jacks private tours. from the moment of our email contact, i found jack to be amazingly prompt in his responses to me, immediately tailoring a tour of the yangshuo area and a visit to minority villages of the dong and miao people. jack was generous with details and photos and responded to any questions or suggestions we had immediately. on our arrival in guilin, a driver had been arranged to meet our plane and transfer us to yangshuo. though jack could not meet us until our arrival into yangshuo, he spoke to us through the driver's cell phone to welcome us and answer any questions we may have had. it's small details like this that make jack such an excellent guide - allaying any uncertainties before they even happen. though jack has a youthful appearance, he was extraordinarily professional and resourceful and responsive. we felt we were in good hands throughout our time with him. we will never forget the beauty of the region of yangshuo. we loved the bamboo raft rides on two rivers and absolutely wowed by the karst landscapes surrounding us. we highly recommend the li river light show highlighting the karst scenery and the people of the region. spectacular! from yangshuo, we traveled with jack and a driver to some of the minority villages of the dong and miao where we saw the most splendid architecture, traditional dress and crafts, and visited with the people and beautiful children. i personally love traditional crafts and found and purchased a splendid silver dong headdress. jack offered to wrap and ship it for us as we didn't have room to carry it with us to our other destinations. it arrived home in perfect timing and in perfect condition. thank you, jack! though we loved every village we visited, the distances and driving can be lengthy and some of the back roads rough and dusty - just a heads up if you are considering a similar journey. however, we wouldn't have wanted to miss anything we saw. each village had its own character. i mentioned jack's professionalism and resourcefulness, but probably what we enjoyed most about him was his broad smile and enthusiasm for everything. he always seemed to be having as much fun seeing everything as we were. thank you, jack, for a delightful and rich experience!

jack is great! he really goes out of his way to make sure you have a good time. he makes sure that the activities are right for you and there is no limit to his energy and positive attitude. he showed us the countryside that we never could have seen without his help; what to look at, what to be wary of, and was priceless as an interpreter. most importantly, he made sure that we never went hungry. thank you so much jack!

jack is what guides ought to be like. in preparing the trip he responded promptly to all communications, he gave clear advice, broke down the fees clearly and showed flexibility in planning the trip to suit us. during the trip he had an easy, friendly and professional style, was knowledgable, flexible and looked out for our needs. he delivered what he promised in the prep phase. he speaks english fluently. i will absolutely use jack's services again and recommend him to all my friends. 

we have just returned from our honeymoon in china and spent 6 days with jack visiting longshen, sanjiang  yangshuo. we had such a wonderful time with jack and we would not hesitate to recommend him to any of our friends. there are a few things that make jack an excellent guide. firstly, jack knows the area inside out and therefore takes you on treks  cycles away from all of the other tourists. this way, you get to see the real area and not the tourist trail. secondly, he is so well connected in the area and so organised that everything about your trip is seamless. we saw some other tourists hanging about waiting to get on boats with their tour guides, whereas jack always phoned ahead and made sure everything was ready for our arrival. this was fantastic, especially when you are trying to pack so much in. lastly, jack is a pleasure to spend time with. he is a really lovely person and it really feels as though you are travelling with a friend rather than on a tour! thanks jack for making our china trip so brilliant!
